Default Is it a female?

I lost my sweet Lily early last month due to a year & a half tumor. Now I have a new friend(in quarantine) that I got from a breeder at an independent pet store.I asked my avian vet tech and we are thinking it is a female but I am not sure. Certainly has a loud vocal chirp in the morning! Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to name the bird and do not have one yet. I will be taking the bird in soon for a check up soon too. Thanks!

I'm sorry for your loss of Lily.

Yes, your cute little budgie is female.

Her beak looks rather dry -- what type diet is she on?

You might want to take a drop of olive oil and massage it onto her beak being very careful not to get it in her nares.

Ok, that may help with the name quandary. Thanks.
The bird is on a combination seed(ABBA)and Roudybush pellet crumbles for now, but I have not introduced fresh fruit or veggies yet. She is quite timid and flighty right now. What do you think the beak dryness is from?

Not enough humidity in the room causes dryness

Welcome to you're new little friend! May she (yep, definitely a she!) live on in Lilly's memory. She's gorgeous! As for names, I probably have a few ideas.

Cassia
Gwin
Reyna
Sigrid
Rina
Nidori (this and above are Japanese for "green")
Thistle
Jade
Verna
Tehya
Key Lime
Pear
Dublin

Hope this helps!

Wink

Those are some great names. I will ask her what she thinks. Thank you for your help. Not sure why I have such a mental block this time around....
