Default Pluck Update

Hi everyone! We just wanted to share an update about how our new budgie Pluck is doing. We love him so much! He's still in quarantine in our room (halfway done), and he and Penry have yet to see each other. My husband spends at least several hours a day near Pluck to do school work. Pluck gets several training sessions per day. He can step up like a pro now, and he is quite content passing time on our shoulders or laptops. He's mastered jumping through a hoop and running through a toilet paper tube. We're so proud! I do think he likes my husband more, but those two do spend a lot of time together. (It's ok, though, because Penry is a mama's boy lol). We've contacted our avian vet, and we're going to bring some of Pluck's poops to get tested before quarantine is over.

And the best part is....we think Pluck is eating pellets! He only gets seed outside of his cage (but he's out A LOT so he definitely won't go hungry) and he gets millet during training. In his cage, we only have pellets; there are some in his dish and some on a mirror. We've yet to catch him in the act, but the pellets are crunched up and Pluck's poops have changed to look more like Penry's (who eats only pellets).

We caught Pluck snuggled in his food dish:

Meanwhile, in Penry's world, one heck of a molt is going on. Penry's been getting lots of scratches and baths from us. He just has to look his best before he meets his new BFF

They are both adorable! I'm so glad to hear that Pluck's quarantine is going well and soon he can meet Penry!
Mallorn is going through a rough moult as well, I just caught her splashing in her water bowl
Both your little ones are absolutely charming, and I can't wait to hear what happens next!

How cute that little Pluck is ! He looks adorable sitting in the feed dish . My Budget is going through a pretty severe moult at the moment as well especially around his eyes and cere region this time. They do have to look their best, I agree appearances are so important upon meeting a new cage mate.

Pluck looks great and I'm glad that you're enjoying him! Poor Penry with the molt - Sammy is also going through one and looks horrible

That's great that Pluck is learning about his pellets! It will give him a great start in life!

I can't wait to see pictures of them meeting when quarantine is complete!

I'm glad things are going so well with Pluck!
Your Penry is such a sweetheart, he reminds me so much of my Luigi who also still loves his head scratches despite already being an adult.
Not only do they look like twins in appearance but also have that special personality we love so much!

Awww, I hope little Mallorn's molt ends quickly! And budgie baths are sooo cute-- at least when they are molting they take more of them

Haha, when we walked into the room and found Pluck in there, he had this guilty look on his face like we caught him red-handed!
Hopefully Penry and Budget will be back to their regular cute selves soon

I can't wait for the introduction pictures either! Does Sammy like to play with his feathers that fall off? Penry loves this! I think it's cute but kind of weird

Thanks! It took us a long time to think of his name, but the more we get to know him, the more we think "Pluck" suits him. He likes to play cute and shy but he's really a little trouble-maker haha

Thanks! Best of luck with the fist molt.... lots of scratches and baths (and vacuuming...)

Luigi and Penry do definitely seem like long-lost brothers. They look very much alike (even more than others of the same mutation), and there is just something so unique and special about them!! Maybe they both think they are humans...?

Though, Penry doesn't usually let us scratch him this much, but this molt is terrible. He will fly over to us and put his head right up on our fingertips asking for a scratch. My heart just melts!!! My husband gave him a cheek scratch for 15 MINUTES!!!! That's longer than any back rub I have gotten from him LOL

Oh my goodness! How precious is that picture of Pluck in his food dish?
I burst out laughing when I scrolled down and saw it.

I'm looking forward to Pluck and Penry meeting when quarantine is over. I just know they are going to be best buddies!!
