You know how a budgie will bob their head while rubbing against a perch or something and sing while happy? My Sweetie does this all the time, I'm sure you folks are very familiar with it.
Well lately my Lemon has been doing a bob too... but it's not like the usual happy bobbing. She'll move her head directly up and down while moving around for a few seconds, usually when she sees me watching her.
I think I know where this comes from; I bob my own head up and down when talking to them in a happy voice which Sweetie really likes, and it looks like Lemon is mimicking exactly this movement from me! She's only started doing it recently too. She's not fluffed up in that cute way budgies do when they are happy, and she's not making any noise either. She just... walks and bobs in an odd fashion
Okay, I literally just tried an experiment and talked directly to her and bobbed at her, and she bobbed right back at me! So while she won't let me touch her or bring my hand near her, she'll copy my head movements.
Oh, I really hope so! I've been working with her for several months now, and it's hard to give each bird individual time when one wants to be all over you 24/7 and the other doesn't want you to touch them
I definitely think she associates me with food and fun toys, so that's a plus. We also have long 'chats' where I talk to her and she quietly chirps back to me. I'm even getting a little over excited, I think, because she'll make these chirps in the same notes as when I or Sweetie says human words, especially 'baby bird', so whenever I hear her I repeat the phrase again.
