Default New arrivals!

Hi everyone! These are my new birds. I've had them about two weeks, so I think the taming is going fairly well considering they were not hand raised and are already about 8 months old.

I was wondering about Jasmine though (the skyblue and white one). I know the lighting isn't the best, but do you think "she" is a he?

Any feedback on their mutations would be nice too. It's hard to see in the picture, but Saffi has a yellow head, which color blends to green before going blue further down her body and she has white wing feathers with black on the tips.

Also does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning the hot pink nail perch other than taking it completely out of the cage? The poo chips off but white spots get left behind and of course it shreds paper towels...

Thanks for taking the time to read this post - I am really excited to have budgies again!

If you are still reading and want the full dramatic story: I first purchased Saffi and a traditionally colored green male. The male was breathing heavily the first day. I thought it was just the stress. After a few days, I called the bird shop. They had me return him so they could take him to the vet, so I took Jasmine home so Saffi could have company. It turns out the male had a respiratory infection and was deemed not contagious. He is on meds, and the shop will call me when he is well enough for me to take him back home again. So I've had Jasmine about a week and a half and Saffi about two and a half weeks, but Jasmine is much less shy about hopping on my hands or doing a quick lap around the room out of the cage.

Lovely bird's, and nice cage. Jasmine look's like a hen to me. I would clean that perch with white vinegar and an old tooth brush. Knock the heavy stuff off first, spray some white vinegar on to soften the deposit's for a few minute's, then brush and spray until it is clean...looking forward to seeing your boy when he comes home...

Looks like Jasmine is still Jasmine! She's almost certainly a she
Also, Saffi is lovely, and your cage looks very nice indeed! Can't wait to meet the new fella

Two lovely birds, and I agree that Jasmine is a hen! Your cage set-up is great and my Sammy is very jealous. Good luck on getting your other male back quickly and with full health!

Very sweet little girl you have there.

I agree with Randy about the method to clean the perch.

I hope your little male will soon be well and able to come home!
