Introducing my new budgie Kiwi, well I say new, he's been here since early December. He's a little character, loves playing with his toys, he's a good talker already considering he's only been here just over 4 months.
Here's a couple of pics,
Unfortunately I seem to be having bad luck with budgies at the moment, there's a high probability Kiwi has either french moult of pbfd, you can see in one of the pics that his tail is very short, vets are unsure without a blood test but apparently it takes quite a bit of blood to perform the tests and considering there's no cure for either & he's the only budgie we'll have in the house I haven't decided whether to go through with the tests.
His short ish tale didn't put us off picking him, he's so cute, at first he could fly relatively well although landing was never his strong suit but his flying skills have certainly deteriorated although the flight feathers look ok to me and when the vet seen him he said the flight feathers were ok, it was just the tail he was concerned about for such a young bird to have such a looking tail.
He had a crop infection in early feb, antibiotics worked a treat, either that was a one off or it could be a sign of either of those diseases as I know they cause a weakened immune system but either way I'll love the little guy no matter what. They call birds like him `runners`, you could call Kiwi a hopper as he often starts hopping around all over the place when he's playing with some of his toys, looks really cute when he starts doing that
