Default Remaining two budgies friendship detoriating

Hi, this is my first post on these forums and need a little advise.

Up until a little over a week ago I had three happy friendly budgies. Two brothers Blue and Todd and the third boy budgie Jesse. Blue and Todd really loved each other and both really liked Jesse too and would all play together.

However, Todd sadly passed away last week and since then Blue and Jesse's relationship has, for the best way to describe it, deteriorated (or at least it seems that way).

They appear to be bickering more, and squawking at each other more and more, with blue sometimes peaking Jesse off whatever food pot he is at at the time (I have 4 pots different corners of a big cage).

Or they both like to get on whatever toy and swing the other is sitting on by peaking the other off even though there is enough toys and swings for both inside and out the cage.

What should I do?
Will their friendship ever be the same again?
Do you think they will continue to get worse?
Does blue need more time to get over his brother?

Any help or suggestions about whats happening would be much appreciated, thank you x

Welcome to talk budgies. Sorry that your boy Todd has gone. I can't really give you any advice for this situation, certainly the sudden loss of his brother has blue upset. I hope as a little more time goes by, it settles out for you. My two hen's are like that with each other but in reality they are closer with each other than with any other's, constantly preening each other, etc. If it is just squabbling, and nothing too malicious, I would give them time rather than seperating them..

If you feel the one bird is not getting enough food you may want to separate them to their own cages so the one bird does not suffer.

Welcome to TalkBudgies! And sorry to hear about the loss of your budgie Todd. It sounds like their dynamics have been thrown off. It is normal for there will be an adjustment period. I'm pretty sure Blue and Jesse will be okay together in the future, but it's hard to say if their relationship will be the same as it was without Todd.
