Default just a question

hey guys thanks to all of you and this forum i can get all my questions answered asap.

one of my female budgie is getting a strange habbit it might be normal but my other 5 budgies didnt do that yet. my baby girl holds herself on the perch and trying to fly like a crazy. i keep them out of the cage 2-3 hours a day, she doesnt do much out of the cage just sitting on the corner of the room but inside the cage she is crazy any ideas why she is holding herself on the perch and trying to fly?

My budgie also does this sometimes. She stands on top of her highest perch and when she gets excited (hears other birds) she goes nuts! They could also do this when they are exercising, happy, excited or sometimes a little frustrated.

Does your Budgie also screech when doing this?

Usually it is a young budgie that does this learning to fly, and strengthening their wings ready for flight.

That's not strange, it's something young budgies do to exercise their wing muscles. They also do it out of excitement, it's a normal behaviour.

And if she's not a very young budgie - some birds also just love doing "flappies" and don't ever stop. (Unfortunately, the one of my current birds who does is somewhat larger - a fully grown African Grey clinging to your furniture and beating his wings like crazy is a lot less cute than a little budgie doing the same )

she about 13-14 weeks old so she is still young. i was worried because i thought maybe i dont give them too much out of cage time but whenever i take them out they both just sitting around for 1-2 hours and i take them to cage.

btw im sure watching your african grey is cute too
