A little while ago I told you all of Lemon playing weirdly, by laying on her back while Sweetie just stands next to her, chirping and beak tapping. I said if I could sneak some pics I would, and I finally got some without her noticing!
Weird, yeah? The only one in the house I think she could have learned that from is Elora, my maine coon. Elora is always on her back with her tummy exposed (laziest butt ever). If the humans are in the living room, the cats are too and the bebes see them. Lemon is OBSESSED with Elora, and Lemon also likes to copy movements from me (head bobbing, 'big stretch' aka wing spreading when I put my arms out, ducking, etc).
Or maybe I'm just nuts, haha. Either way, I hope you enjoyed the pics!
Well, she is named after a princess, hahaha
She demands to be snugged at all times. As a result, the budgies get a really good view of her quite often. Sweetie likes to sing to her and call her 'Baby biiiiiiiiird'. Lemon will keep on the side of the cage closest to Elora if she's close enough (always only in my lap of course, never unsupervised).
Sometimes I think Lemon is just bursting with curiosity as to what Elora's beard feels like, she's very much into ripping up things and testing textures with her beak/tongue.
I do think it's very important for my cats to view the budgies as normal and not something special and interesting - if it's special and kept away from them at all times the first thing they want to do is go right to it and mess around with it. This is why I let Elora and Willow go near the cage on my lap; the cage is now nothing more than some furniture and not a big deal, you know?
That's hilarious to see Lemon playing so oddly with Sweetie the skeptical bystander
Elora is a gorgeous girl--I'm glad that she doesn't mind the budgies, although it seems the budgies just want to play!
and Princess Mallorn!
Thank you to Deb for her wonderful Faery magic
