Default I feel like such a bad person right now :(

So I have just had to catch all four of my aviary birds in order to transfer them to a small travel cage, as they will be going to a new home today. i decided that since i've been so busy with study it would benefit not only me, but the budgies. The thing is, I've had to use a net because their aviary is pretty big and they are not tame at all. It was so much worse than i thought it would be i was mortified seeing them in the net... even though it was the safest and easiest way. I've covered their travel cage for now, is there anything else i can do to make them feel better? they're sitting across from ducky and occasionally chirping along with her, although they're still very scared. Also they will be in this cage anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour until she comes to pick them up. they all get along pretty well, but is this too long of a wait? I feel so bad! ugh

I am so sorry to hear they are going to another home but , the fact you chose to do this is a testament to the love and care you show towards your budgies. It must of been a very hard decision for you to come to. being young and trying to study and take care of an aviary is a big responsibility.
Your birds are all still together which is a huge plus for them, They will settle I am sure ,take care and perhaps in the future you can once again have an aviary flock. Keep them covered and try not to make any sudden or loud movements around them have they got some food and water ?

Good on you for recognising that you birds may be better off with someone else.

Spending a little extra time in the cage is probably a good thing. It will give them time to settle before their next big move. Being together will also help lessen the stress. If you have a nice big millet spray to put in their cage I am sure they would appreciate it. Soaking it in a bit of water also keeps them hydrated without worrying ahout spilling water while travelling.

In the mean time, as said keep them covered on three sides and play a little bit of soothing music.

I hope all goes well.

thank you!! everything worked out ok. i'm really sad about it all (especially because i'm very attached to chip and casper), but at the same time im excited for them & their new home She has a HUGE aviary with a few other budgies & i think she may be the definition of a crazy bird lady... i wish i could've brought them all inside and kept them in cages, but something tells me my mum wouldn't be too happy about that idea!
