Default My Budgies

I've had Tweety (the yellow Budgie) for well over a year and about 6 months after we got Tweety we got Aero. We decided she (I think!) needed a friend and my son fell in love with the Blue-ish one. Took them a few days to get along but things worked out. In the end we now have 4 and the last one we got about 4 days ago. The white one (Lori) we ended up having to separate from Tweety and Aero since she could cause some problems from time to time. Pretty sure she was jealous of the first two so had to separate her for the time being and got her a friend. Those two get along well. My issue, which I recently found out, is that I never knew that the Albino and Ino (?) variation were a little harder to tell which sex they are. And my Albino one I'm not 100% certain on.

For Aero (Blue) and Shoutmon (Green & Yellow) I am more than certain are males based on their Cere coloration and the fact that Aero has done his little dance for Tweety on numerous occasions.

Tweety (Yellow) I always assumed was a female as the light pink Cere pointed to that and she is smaller in body size. Lori (White) I have never been 100% sure on and if Lori turns out to be male ...well I have a name change in order.

Hopefully the pictures I have attached to this post are good enough to be able to tell. If not getting a better picture shouldn't be an issue.

And now with pictures -_- forgot to press the upload button

Welcome to the forums!
On first picture the budgie on the left is a male and the other one is a female.
Your green budgie is male and your albino appears to be a girl, it seems the cere has a light tannish colour.
If possible, do post a couple more pictures of your albino, full frontal shots of the cere taken in natural light, no flash from camera.

Oh, and you have a beautiful little flock there!

Hi there and welcome to Talk Budgies! I'll leave sexing of special mutations to the experts, but I just wanted to mention that you did a great job evening out your flock with 4 budgies. You might find that Lori and your new budgie bond and want to live with the other 2 after everyone is settled a bit.

You can also read about quarantine on Talk Budgies to help protect your flock.

Good luck

Thank you for the welcome

I was more than certain the males I had down and it seems like I was right ^_^

Like I said with Lori I have never been 100% sure but when she was in the same cage with Tweety and Aero it was entertaining at the beginning at least. Then after she became extremely comfortable and when ever Tweety and Aero showed any kind of affection towards each other she jumped/flew right between them and started pecking the males beak. At first it was just that then Tweety and Lori started getting more aggressive towards each other and then that is when I decided Lori should be in another cage.

PrincipePio Thank you

Yeah since the two groups are in separate cages at the moment they can talk to each other like crazy. The two males go crazy with the chatter. Tweety joins in from time to time and Lori does as well but her chatter is more aimed at Shoutmon.

That's why I prefer to house two budgies per cage, it is to avoid bickerings that can escalate to vicious fighting.

Hi and welcome to TB! I think the light blue and the green bird are males and the white and the yellow bird are females.

Honestly I wasn't sure how many were best together...provided they all get along. I was planning on stopping on two but that one trip to the local pet store and seeing the albino one just...sealed the deal and I fell in love.

Sorry Aluz I just noticed that you asked for more pictures of Lori and here is one. I have a few but this one is a frontal picture with no flash.

Aww, such pretty birdies you have and welcome to the forum!

Lori is very beautiful but she looks like a boy to me from the photo.

Jedikeet I think you are right XD I happened to walk by as I saw Lori doing the dance i've seen Aero do when he seems to be 'courting' Tweety. Soooo guess a name change is pending XD

New question....will it cause any issues having two males in the same cage? They seem to be getting along rather fine so I don't see an issue buuuut I haven't had budgies for very long. Though considering the one is doing the dance it can't be all that bad XD

Gorgeous flock! Welcome to the forums
I agree with you and Aluz, it looks like is a girl and the boys are still boys However, from the new pic of Lori, I think he's a he! Maybe...Leo?
It's great to see you here, bearing pictures besides! I hope to hear more about your colorful flock
Cheers
