I assumed the no edible/chewable toys had something to do with the immature crop but I didn't ask. He is still very much in baby bird mode. Anytime he sees my hand he starts chirping hungrily. I have verified he is eating and drinking through observation and his poops look great. I just think he is still very young.
The breeder does feed a diet heavy with fresh foods and sprouts seeds as well. Tonight baby bird got a little bit of celery and carrots fresh from the cutting board because I was prepping a vegetable & ham casserole. He chirped happily about what I offered and nibbled it eagerly.
I will keep the baby food in mind. It is a neat time saving idea. Baby food does have a longer shelf life and a good backup plan for those emergencies that always seem to happen.
