Default 7 week old budge just home from the breeders

These pictures were snagged from his Breeder's Facebook page. I figured too much handling to get a close up would be too stressful since we just brought him home. His cere is very pink though so those photographs aren't showing his proper cere coloring. I think that means boy. He has a very vocal and sweet chirp.

Is cage setup okay for a 7 week old just brought home?

Breeder said hand towel on bottom with scattered seed and no cuttle bone or chewable toys until 3 months old. There are 2 water dishes the green one on top and the blue one on bottom. The clear cups, one contains FM Browns Premium Encore seed the other Harrison's super fine maintenance pellets. I don't actually expect him to take to the pellets yet since the breeder weaned him onto seed but I thought I would at least make it available. There is seed and a very tiny piece of millet on the towel on bottom. Blanket covering two sides. I left the two sides that have frequent foot traffic open so he wouldn't startle. He is voraciously eating the seed and millet I left on bottom but I haven't seen him go to the water cup yet but we have only been home for about 30 minutes.

Very cute baby, congrats!
I have not heard of 'no chewable toys til 3 months old' and I am inclined to not believe that. Did she tell you why? Mink is not 3 months old, and she loves her shreddable toys. I don't know why Budgies wouldn't be just like any other young parrot species who love toys of all types, as long as they are safe and size appropriate.

What a beaut...congrat's...

I'm sure when the little one has settled in, if you snap a few closeup's of the cere with no flash, natural light condition's, everyone here would be glad to give opinion's on gender...

Sweet baby. I wish breeders would not wean to seed only. Introducing them to soft cooked veggies and grains in addition to seed would be good. I fed baby birds about that age a combo of baby food from jars and crumbled corn bread. They always loved it.

Such a cute little baby!

I agree with Julie with regard to chewable/shreddable toys.
I really don't understand why the breeder would tell you to wait until he reaches 3 months old. I've never waited that long with any of my budgies to give them shreddable/chewable toys.

It's wonderful that you are offering him pellets in addition to seed. Once he settles in, you can start offering him vegetables as well.

Congratulations on your darling new addition.

He is absolutely beautiful! I agree that from the pictures and your description he is a darling little boy.
Congrats on your new addition! Have you decided on a name for him yet?
