Well george is doing really well shes had her moult and is now in the process of her cear going brown , well at least we think so as this is the first time , and shes 2 in august, anyway shes shreading anything she can, she has wood and rope pearches no cotten, but shes shreading toys, is this normal and will it stop, or are we doing somthing wrong, she has her veg and seed and avipro in her water, she has daily out time and baths, so I think thats enough inreachmont , but should we b doing more?
I don't think there's anything unusual in budgies shredding things. Mine does it a lot, and my previous budgie did it as well, just not as much. From what I've read on this forum, so budgies like shredding things while other don't do it much, so she might continue this behaviour...
It is a budgie's nature to shred things and is very good for their beak to keep it trimmed and healthy.
Many budgies that are in condition particularly like to shred.
Giving Georgie plenty of wood toys and shredding toys and making sure she has a cuttlebone and mineral block to chew will keep her busy and stimulated which, along with her good diet and out-of-cage time, will make for a very healthy and happy budgie!
Oh thank you so much I was so worried, she has a mineral block but no cuttle she doesn't like them, she has wood, and loves a ladder well whats left of it, shes so funny shes chit chats away , im shaw shes trying to talk, well I like to think she will, shes enjoying us trying , that or shes loughing at us, we must sound funny,!,,,, repeat repeat , lol
Please put a cuttlebone in her cage even if she doesn't use it.
Many budgies won't use one for months and then suddenly they will start chewing it. Cuttlebones provide necessary calcium for a budgie which is very important.
