Smile New Budgie

Hello I purchased a new budgie a few days ago. I observed "him" playing with the others for awhile. Compared to the others his cere seemed to have more color. Anyway I determined him to be a male while the guy at the store corrected me saying it was a girl. When I brought up the cere color he said they are to young to tell, and it would change. I don't care either way. He is a wonderful bird, and I already love him. Just may help with a name.

Hello!

Even though it is true that younger budgerigars can not be 100% sexed at their age, it can still be quite accuratly predicted.

If you wish help from the TalkBudgies community on sexing your new budgie, please post a picture of your new budgie. If you are unable to, refer to the guide below!

Hope you and your new budgie have a great time!

Tyler

(EDIT: I noticed you edited the post to add pictures. Disregard what I said )

I adore your budgie! Its color pattern is just astonishing.

At this time, I believe it is a male budgie, but, I won't draw a conclusion. I'll just wait for the more knowledged to say something.

Tyler

Hi and welcome to the forums
What a beautiful boy! He is definitely a boy--there always are some budgies we aren't 100% on at this age, but you can certainly tell with most budgies by this age

Oh--I'd like to add that the mauve goldenface II mutation, like your boy is absolutely stunning!
Please feel free to ask about anything you're unsure of

Do you have any names in mind?

Hoping to see more of you and your little stunner soon!

Thank you for the welcome. We are still thinking of names. He is my first budgie, but not my first bird. I have rescued several through the years. Sadly I lost my sun conure two years ago in an ice storm. I was at work and the storm had knocked out my electricity. This is my first bird since then. I'm amazed at how sweet and tame he has been since day one. I am thinking of getting him a friend. He seems pretty lonely even though I spend alot of time with him.

Budgies are flock animals and getting him a friend may be best for him if you are gone for long periods each day.

https://www.cutelittlebirdiesaviary.c...ie-or-two.html

Please be aware that he will quickly bond with his friend and may not be nearly as willing to spend time with you as he does right now.

Also, unless you are getting the new budgie friend at the same place in the next couple of days time, it is recommended you quarantine the new budgie away from your current one for a period of 4-6 weeks.
