Dotty has worked out that she can climb into her food dish, push the lid off and she then kicks the seed everywhere. Is she trying to nest? Seems kinda odd behaviour. I will buy an alternative feeding bowl to stop her but just wondered whether she's being a rascal or if it's something more?

Very young budgies like to sleep in their food dishes.
I would simply remove the top of the feeder you have and allow her to sit and play in the food to her heart's content. Most budgies outgrow this tendency but I think it's quite fun to watch them playing in the seed.
