Default My flocks new home

I now have 4 little ones, 2 girls and 2 boys, I think I'll stop there.
Their new home arrived the other day and they love it! They love going out on the back porch in the mornings for a little sun.
Finally got them all named with their forever names. Snow, Lemon, Skye and Kiwi.
Do you guys think this cage is plenty big enough for 4 budgies?

Hello. what lovely budgies and I am sure they will be very happy in their new home, they will spend the majority of the time up in the top quarter. Budgies are what we call horizontal fliers this means they tend to fly horizontal and not vertical.
Do your budgies get out of cage time to fly and exercise their wings? just a reminder when you place them out on the porch be wary of cats, predator birds and other wild animals. also cover the top of the cage for some safety and protection from the sun.

Yes they get time out of the cage also.
I make sure that part of the cage is shaded from the sun. The only sun my back porch gets is very early morning when its not very hot out.
I'm not new to bird keeping, its just been many, many years since I had any.
When I was younger we had 26 birds counting all the babies and adults, I was called the bird lady by my UPS driver lol. I left the hobby as I had and raised my children, my kids are grown and I want my bird kids back.
I love watching and listening to them, I can sit and be content for hours out on the porch with them.

Very nice cage Sharon. I am sure your flock is extremely happy with that setup. That look's like an F040 ? When I housed my bird's in a cage similar to that I kept the food down lower and out of line of fire from bird droppings, and doing that gave them reason to utilize the bottom of the cage regularly, mostly flying up and down....good stuff...

Beautiful birds and a lovely cage for them
Looks like they'll have plenty of room for flying and living happily! They are all so sweet

One question: Are you planning to replace the wooden dowel perches sooner or later?

I love to see this setup, it's very nice

Excellent choice for your budgies' new home, Susan!

I have five of the F040 cages and all of my birds love them.
Every one of my birds use the entire area in their cages and fly from the floor of the cage to various perches and toys and back down. Like Randy mentioned, I keep the food and water dishes low in the cage and out of direct line of droppings. I also allow my birds to forage for seed right after I change the newspaper on top of the bottom grates each morning. They love it! They get their treats and veggies in a shallow dish on the cage floor too.

In my opinion, the F040 is one of the best cages you can buy for the price.
Four budgies is an excellent number and thier new palace is the perfect choice to accomodate them.
I replaced all the dowels in my cages, with grapevine, multi-branch, calcium comfy-clam, cuttlebone calcium banana split perches -- you've had budgies in the past so I'm sure you'll be doing something similar.

What a beautiful set-up you have and how awesome you and your budgies can enjoy the beautiful weather on your porch.

Thanks for sharing your set-up with us!

Thanks for the tips everyone, I will be putting the food dishes at the bottom of the cage.
As for the dowels I have already started replacing some of them.
And yeah it is the F040 cage, I searched for hours before deciding on it and they seem to love it.

Hi, i agree they stay at the top most of the time, but i often wonder why cages are made with the feeders at the bottom of the cage? My cage is ferplast with four great swing feeders that will never be used. Such a waste.
