Question Budgie companion

I've rescued a rescued budgie. He has been given a male name. The vet can't tell me his age or gender. (I think he's a female as he's very territory protective and has a grey - granite coloured - cere.) He cannot fly - vet says unhealed broken wing which will not get better. Doesn't talk and there's no way he'll bond after I've had him for 8 months. He is happy and cheeps a lot.
I just wonder if he would be better off with another budgie. If so - a grown one or a baby one?
I don't want him to get cross and attack the newcomer.
Anyone out there with knowledge and/or experience?

Hi and to Talk Budgies!
What is your budgie's name and can you post a close-up in focus picture taken in natural light of his cere? We can advise you whether the budgie is male or female.

If your budgie is happy and you spend lots of time with him/her, then I would not add another budgie to the mix at this time.

The more you can tell us about your budgie with regard to diet, exercise, playtime, size of cage, etc. the easier it will be for us to give you suggestions on ways you might make his life even happier than it is now!

To familiarize yourself with the forums, please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.
You'll find most of your basic questions are answered after you've read through all of them.

I'm looking forward to hearing all about your budgie and hopefully seeing some pictures soon!!

Hi Sean! Firstly, it is awesome you took in a rescue budgie and have given him a happy home...
If it turns out you have a female with a male name, you can be in my club. I have a female named Oscar! I also happen to have a budgie who can't fly from similar circumstances. From asking questions here, I've set up lots of bridges and ramps so he can keep up with the others... and wow can he scoot (run) fast!
I'm not sure about adding another budgie.. do you spend lots of time with him or is he alone most of the time? I have multiple budgies who entertain each other. They prefer each other to me about 100 times!
Oh, and Welcome to the forums... can't wait to see a photo of your budgie.

Hello and welcome to the forums

FaeryBee and jrook are absolutely right--if all is well with your little one and you're able to spend lots of time with your budgie, another friend might just upset the balance
I hope to see some pictures of your little one, I'm so glad you were able to rescue him and give him/her the life s/he deserves

Hope to see you around the forums and please do ask about anything you're unsure of!

After 8 months he's now eating different fruits and a variety of green leaves. I offer him pellets, but he studiously avoids them and opts for seed. A weekly treat of Millet and/or one of those Vitakraft sticks - for 1 hr only. I've put in loads of natural perches and toys - which I move around for variety. He can come and go as he pleases, as I always leave a gate open, and he's got a laundry airer to climb on and a wooden construction thingy. He jumps and waddles all over the place, although I don't let him in the kitchen. I don't work full time and leave the radio on when I go out.
His name is Moffie.

Hi and Welcome to TB Sean! Is very awesome that you rescued a budgie; keep up the good work! From the picture, I can't tell the gender well, but I would guess female? If you could post a better picture, front on in natural light maybe one our more seasoned members could tell you for sure
Hope to see you and beautiful Moffie around!

I agree i always like to keep 1 pet and give it all the attention, when I had a dog I only had one because I don't want to divide attention, but if some people like having multiples thats alright. i think since your bird has gone through a lot and is doing good with just you, i wouldn't add another.
