Hi, I'm checking back in after some time. About two months ago I took in a found Kakariki. I already had Pacha, my budgie, back then. They've grown fond-ish of each other during that time, most of the day is spent with both of them in Houdini's cage.
I've begun to notice however Pacha does enjoy to nip at Houdini's tail in passing. I'm not sure what her intentions are, it doesn't seem really harmful but... eh, I don't know. Houdini doesn't go real near her (as in: cuddle up), but I'm aware that's not the Kakariki nature.
I've googled and found a lot about birds nipping at their own feathers, but not when it's done to other birds?
Also, Pacha's begun to throw the food out of her own bowl and now hangs around Houdini's cage eating HIS food.
Should I be stopping them from spending time in the same cage, does this mess up social structures or...? I'm clueless.
(here's a vid to Pacha playing hopscotch on my knees, just to show how she's grown: https://youtu.be/k--bZz3dsHU
