Default budgie backs butt up high against cage

Hey everyone, so I have 6 budgies, and one of them, the oldest. He's about 4 years old, and for the past year or so, he would a lot of the time put his butt up against the cage and lift it up high.

I have attached some photos of it. He does this maybe 2-3 times a day, and for an hour or longer.

I attached some photos.

Well, first of all, welcome to the forums!
You have a very pretty budgie--but she is a girl!
Surprise!

It sounds like maybe she enjoys sitting in that position because it's comfy, or because of possible stimulation she may receive from being against the cage bars like that. Either way, you shouldn't be worried, I don't think.

You have a beautiful pair! What are their names?

It's great to have you with us and I hope to see more of you and your two little ones around here! Feel free to ask about anything you're unsure of

Hello - she looks like a real character, doesn't she? I have come across exactly the same on occasion and I too am convinced it is a comfort thing, just as some budgies like to push their wings right into the bars or go horizontal along a perch for a while. My budgie Benedict likes to push his tail right through the bars when he goes to sleep - just giving him an extra bit of support I am sure. I think if there is no evidence of illness it's just one of those individual preference things!

Would love to see pics of all your birds - preferably in portrait as it cricks my neck to look at a rotated image on my iPad!

I agree with the others that your budgie simply seems to find the position comfortable/comforting. I wouldn't be concerned about him.

Hello, thanks for the response, I attached some more photos but unfortunately I don't know how to make them into portrait.

The system defaults to "landscape" on pictures if you simply attach them from your computer.

If you open a free PhotoBucket account, you can upload full sized pictures in either portrait or landscape as you will be able to rotate your photos if necessary. Much easier for everyone to see.

The instructions below explain how to upload photos using PhotoBucket:

The black/blue one is called Grinch, and the white one is called Willy.

I attached a photo of them chilling with my rabbit.
