Default recipe ideas for a budgie-safe birthday cake? its jessies 1st birthday

my little jessie has her first birthday this month, in a couple weeks and id like to make her a small birthday cake

obviously it cant be the kind we humans eat

so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a recipe that will be easy to make so that i can mix it all together and make kind of like a cake-shape Pattie that i can put small carrot sticks in as 'candles'

i was thinking maybe making some mash and mixing in vegetables and mold it into a circular cake shape but im not sure if they can eat mashed potatoes

if it helps, her favorite foods are lettuce, grapes and blueberries and also she likes egg-food so im sure she'd like hard boiled eggs too., oh and she also likes crushed corn flakes or rice krispies

any ideas are appreciated

That's such a cute idea!

I'd say finding out if there's anything sticky they you can use as a sort of glue? Like the tiniest amount of honey or something?

I've read that it's pretty unhealthy on its own, but alright in tiny tiny amounts, and you can dilute it with water so it's not quite as concentrated, too.

I found this recipe. Would be interested to get comments from experienced members.

Looks like you could maybe reduce the quantities or cut into 'treat' size and freeze for other special occasions/rewards?

I definitely wouldn't use every day though... Also note that hone-made juice would be better than 'sugar free', as this may mean artificial sugars (chemical 'stuff'-storm).

- Budgie Cupcakes -

1 Cup of seed and 1 Cup s/r sugar-free cornbread mix
1 teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of sugar-free juice
1 egg
1/2 cup of water

Add ingredients together and mix with whisk or blender.
Put them in a greased cupcake tray, leave them in oven at 150 degrees for 10-20mins.
Then remove and let cool.
Once cooled put them in freezer in gladwrap or a bag if not being used straight away.
Optional extras: glaze honey on muffins once cooled and sprinkle nuts or fruit on top.

How cute

Mashed potato is okay to give them in small quantities or you could even use mashed peas! Just make sure not go put salt, butter or milk in like you might do for the human recipe.

Take a picture when it's finished

I'd go with a quinoa, or steel oats instead of mash, and mix in the favorites into it. If you make the quinoa or steel oats thick enough it should stick together. A little bit of honey mixed in won't hurt, but too much can.

cornbread is an option, but it's not all that healthy for our little ones. But it can be used as a treat.

thanks for all your suggestions guys, ive been thinking about all your different ideas and looked up some recipes online and ive come up with the following recipe.

can someone more experienced let me know if this is all ok for my budgie to eat?

Banana Muffins

Ingredients
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup oats
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 large banana (mashed)
cup blended/mashed apples
1 egg with crushed shell
cup water, or enough to form a thick batter
cup mixed seed, sesame, millet etc
cup chopped broccoli
blueberries

Preparation

- Mix/Blend all these ingredients together
- Place mixture into muffin tray
- Bake for 20-25 mins at 350 degrees.

Then sprinkle the top of the muffins with crushed rice krispies and unsweetened coconut flakes

im not sure if the quantities are quite right, they were just a guess but i think everything on that list is safe for them to eat? and i think that it should taste quite good?

thanks

I recently read that banana is not that great for budgies. Lots of them won't go near it apparently, since it's nothing like any of the foods they would find in the wild.

Just to make sure that your budgie enjoys the birthday cake, I think it's a really good idea to stick to favourite foods as suggested by J.W.
