Default Sleeping cage?

My budgie stays in the living in room so he can be with us all day, or if we aren't home he can watch T.V. At night I move him into my room. Mainly because I have an indoor/outdoor cat that I don't trust to have in the same room, and for temperature control (i lost my last bird a few years ago when the electricity went out in an ice storm). This routine works well with everyone. In fact if I go to bed late he is chirping at me to go to his room . The problem I have is his huge cage. I'm either going to buy one on wheels, or a small one for the bedroom just to sleep in. Thoughts? To much stress?

So are you having to move the huge cage into your room for the night?
If so, I reccomend either getting a wheeled one or a sleeping cage, I think it might be better though if you could just move one cage around (say, a wheeled one) so that they only have to get used to one cage.

I don't think it will stress them as long as they're used to it and it's a routine

Is it at all possible to have his cage in your room all the time and perhaps have a play gym area set up in the living room?
That way he can go into his cage during the day when ever he feels like he needs to.
My birds do this and it works fine.
My birds are out of their cages all day though.

I used to put my budgie Joy into a small sleeping cage at night-- the area where his big cage was was sometimes too loud past his bedtime. He had no issues with it, and if I forgot to put him in he would sometimes remind me by heading over himself!

Moving your budgie from one cage to another at night is not going to stress him. I have multiple cages and my budgies go from one to another during the day time but each has a particular "sleeping" cage where it spends the night. Additionally, I have an "upstairs" cage and a "downstairs" cage for one of my lovebirds plus is "outdoor" cage and he loves them all.

Birds love routine so if you get your budgie used to moving to a different cage at night he'll be just fine with it.
