Unhappy Need advice

I have a lil who is almost tamed I guess. Well he does trust me, he stands on my hands and also stays on my shoulder, but still we need more time to get our relationship to the level of perfectness. I've had him for 5 months and 17 days now, but there's still a minor issue. He wouldn't let me touch him

Sometimes when he's all relaxed and ready to sleep he would let me brush his chest for more than a minute! Which is something haha but for the most of the day I can't place my finger on his head nor can I touch his feet! It's just hopeless. I can't deny that I haven't done my best in this matter. It's because I felt like I'm forcing it on him. That's why I stopped trying! But I'm ready to listen to your advice guys and work on it just tell me if your budgie lets you touch him/her and what are the steps you took with your budgie? And how could I let mine agree? Thank you so much <3

Does he step up onto your finger voluntarily? I have always thought that is the first level of trust that needs achieving before any touching is permitted. Does he nibble your finger? That is often a good route in, they can almost let touching the head come naturally after a long period of that.

I have had budgies before who whatever you do they did not like to be touched, but have been more than happy with other types of less physical bonding. Just like us really, if that is how they are it should be respected.

Perhaps you have a few more things to work on and I'm sure you will soon be awash with suggestions! The difficulty of course is recognising when to call a halt if clearly the bird does not want that. I wish you luck!

Many budgies do not like to be touched.

You can have a bond with your budgie and he still may not like for you to touch his head or feet and that's OK. You should respect his space and his preferences.

My budgie doesn't want to be touched by my hand, but will likes it when I rub his head with my cheek.

If you want to touch your budgie touch and scratching the back of the head thatís part of their bonding and preening

Donít touch the feet because biting the feet is the main attack of budgies and saving their feet is reflex action

Jimmy is the same, I have had him for just over a year and he will not let me touch his head, his chest sometimes but he just isn't one for touching he prefers to just sit and chill. I suppose its all down to different personalities

On some occasions he does step voluntarily on my hand yeah. When I touch his head or face he sometimes either move his head or nibble my finger slightly. Thanks a lot! That rlly helped! ^_^

Thanks a lot! This opens my eyes and reminds me that not all budgies are the same! I'll do my best in giving Peter his space and respecting his preferences
