Smile New Budgie Tickle!

Hi guys, Just wanted to introduce myself and my new budgie. I have two children, a 7 year old son and a 2 year old daughter, my daughter named him Tickle. Anyway, tickle was so scared when he came home he would stay in one spot - this was friday night. However, now he's running around his cage, he'll perch on my finger if I put it in - he'll allow me to take him out. He'll climb on my shoulder, also, i've been taking him in the bathroom with me and closing the toilet seat and just kinda letting him explore a bit. But he was perched on my finger last night for around 10 minutes letting me gently pet his head, and he was clicking / cracking his beak and closing his eyes. Also, I believe he's about 2 - 3 months old. This is what the store had told me, they get their budgies from a breeder. But all in all he's a fun little birdy! Anyone have any tips for me? And does he seem happy?

I have some millet in the cage for him, his food is mixed between Vitakeet and some Fruit mix, I change his water every day, I have a mineral block for him with a cuttle bone - and I also have some different sized perches so he doesn't get arthritis in his feet plus some toys.

If anyone has any other advice, please let me know!! =)

Hi there! Welcome to the forums to you and Tickle (adorable name, by the way)
Your little one has made very fast progress it seems, but make sure not to rush things. Most new budgies, especially if they're from a pet store, need at least two weeks to settle in. It seems like he's quite a character and very comfortable with you, however, so I would wait about a week before trying to tame him. During this time, you can let him out if both of you are comfortable, etc. Just make sure to go at his pace, not yours. He seems happy to me! Beak grinding and the other behaviours you described point to a happy and healthy little guy
I can't wait to see pictures of him! You sound like you've done lots of research already, and I know you all will be very happy together.
Also, if you haven't already, I would suggest transitioning him onto pellets as well as his seed for a more balanced diet, as well as introducing veggies into his food. Budgies tend to love carrot, dark leafy greens like spinach, lettuce (no iceberg) and kale, as well as herbs like parsley and basil.
Best of luck with your little one!
