Default I found something out today!

Yesterday Daesyl was having none of the attention I was trying to give her, where she'd do her angry squeaks if I so much as stepped near the cage. She even took to biting my hand. I know that's because over the last couple of days, she's been having issues with poops and i've been having to handle and clean her more than either of us would like.
I can even admit that over the last few days even I haven't been in the best of moods, so she was probably picking up on that.

I honestly thought I'd ruined my bond with her and cried at my friend about it. It was silly, I know. (Heck, I even cried when I saw that my old dog, Nelly was upset that my step monster's eldest brought another dog in)

So after a day of keeping my distance, she's quite alright with me today and nicely stepped onto my hand to get out of the cage.

The other day our lovely next door neighbours bought too many fresh foods and like always, gave us a bag full of things. In that bag was a pineapple, and some bananas among other things.

I thought to give Daesyl a little present.
Her reaction to the banana was hilarious. I don't think she really likes them too much. She gave it a good try, but with the way she looked confused, and the way she simply went to licking it a few times before stepping back gave it away.

She really likes pineapple, though! Going by her reaction to blackberries I gotta say, she seems to LOVE pineapple. Especially after warming it up.

Amber,

Forgive me but I'm confused. Maybe it's too early and I'm not fully awake yet....

Are you saying Daesyl was in a bad mood because of the sticky poo but now she's happy because of the fresh foods or am I missing something?

Anyway, I'm glad to hear things have improved.

Oh bless

Daes was in a bad mood because of the sticky poo, and because I was handling her waaaayyy too much to check and clean her. (even I was uncomfortable with it!)

But because yesterday I didn't handle her or move to pick her up (I just held my hand close), she seems in a better mood. She's probably happier because I wasn't picking her up or poking her about.

And I gave her some pineapple to try, haha.

Thank you!

It is always important to be in-tune with our budgies' moods and to let them determine how much (or how little) interaction we have with them on a given day.

It sounds like you are learning to read Daesyl's moods and budgiebody language well.

I find it fascinating how she's not really like my old George at all. She's actually quite upfront and obvious with how she's feeling.

Georgie just used to leave it until the last moment. You wouldn't know he was in a bad mood until he took it out on you, or started beating something up in his cage. (Then again, he used to literally headbutt one of his toys)

I don't want to worry you but has the poopy vent been happening for a while every now and then? this isn't a good thing to be happening.
Does she get probiotics in her food? these really help with good gut bacteria, Budget's poops are the best and near to normal for him being a Mega budgie when he gets his probiotics regularly.
You do get used to the body language they are all different!

It's only really started over the last few days, and it seems to be on-off. sometimes they'll drop right out and other times it just catches on her feathers.
And yeah, she gets probiotics.
