Default I had a breakthrough!

Long story short, no matter how encouraging i'm going to be, I am NEVER going to eat a budgie pellet ever again.

That being said, Daesyl is a crafty and smart little budgie, and seemed wise to my attempts to get her to eat by faking eating them myself. Even just holding one didn't cut it.
She's a huge copycat and only really seems interested in things after i've had a play, or eaten a bit. If I fake it, she tends to give me a look that just screams that she didn't believe a thing I just did.

As I suggested, I was offering her pellets today. again. offering to hand-feed her and everything.
It was only after I tried one that she finally went to have some herself. I tried faking it, I really did, I brought out all of my acting skills but to no avail.
She didn't seem to know what to make of it. The ones I have are kinda long and hard, so she was picking them up, giving them a taste, then spat it back out. She ground a few up, too.
What I might do is try and see if there are any softer ones I can get her. Any recommendations would be great!

She's also still not over her moult yet. It feels like it's been going on forever, and I can see it's stressing her out. She moves about the cage, but tends to stay put and singing, not looking too happy. Oh, and she's become incredibly bitey.

That, and is there a way to encourage her to explore her cage and play a little more without forcing her? Like maybe a redecoration? hmm.

I'm glad Diva Daesyl decided that even though she's feeling cranky, pellets were good! Especially if Mum tried some
Hey, I ate some of Mallorns when I was getting her to eat them too, she sees right through my faking attempts as well. It must be a hen thing

But I must say, mine probably tasted better, since they're rainbow and fruit flavored
Mallorn gets pretty cross during moults as well, and I think she would be more encouraged if her slave (A.K.A you) played with them first. Maybe one or two new toys and just dangle them in front of her for a while, saying things like "Look what Mummy's got!" and ring the bell or something. That's what I do with my little diva and she always wants what she can't have
Congratulations on the achievement! Daesyl, !

You are doing fine

Molting is a stressful period breeding condition comes after that and biting is one of the sign

Placing chew toy on different places of cage will do the trick I prefer placing thin natural branches of eucalyptus(good for respiratory system) and bottle brush tree(rich in fiber)

Our princesses seem very similar, don't they?
With my experience with George practically force-feeding me seeds, I can say that the pellets taste a bit like them.

Smile I

If you can find nutriberries on the net, they work for many stubborn budgies. You might Try Harrisons supper fine sprinkled over soft food or Roudybush nibbles as they are smaller and irregular Our birds have responded well to all of the above. Also Zupreem has tiny fruit flavor and natural color. The Idea to be as close as you can to shape of millet seed. Smart budgie!!!

Blessings, Jo Ann
