Default Budgie male behaviour

Hi all, new here so I hope there has not been a post on this already. My male budgie and female are spending a lot of time in the nest box, still no eggs yet but is this normal for the male to be in there to. thanks.

Welcome to the forums!
Some males do like to be extra attentive to their mates and spend time with them inside the nest. There is no reason for concern.

I wasn't able to open your attached pic, so I can't help with chick colour predictions.

Good luck with your pair and if you haven't done so already, check the info on the stickies at the Breeding section of the forums for all the info on the subject.

Hi and to Talk Budgies!

You didn't indicate in your post... are you new to owning budgies?
How many do you have?

Hopefully, if you are planning to breed your budgies you've spent a great deal of time in research to ensure the health and well-being of your budgie pair and their future clutch.

I'd suggest taking the time to review the information in the linked threads as well.

Hi there and welcome to Talk Budgies

Deb has given you some great resources, and even if you have done research, I recommend you read all of it anyways--you can never have enough budgie breeding information!

I was able to open your picture and can say that some of the chicks will be split recessive pied (but won't show it), all will be green unless the hen is split for blue. Dilute is a recessive mutation so if he is dilute, none of the chicks will be dilute. I can't really see the cock since the flash is washing him out, do you have any other pictures?

Keep us posted, good luck, and hope to see you around the forums!
