Usually I'm pretty good at sexing budgies but this one has me stumped. I THINK I have a girl but am unsure. All of these pictures were taken in natural light. (I'll do a little shoot for him/her in a few days or so when I feel he/she's more comfortable with me.) Anyway, he/she has a serious purple on the bottom but clearly white around the nostrils. Thats why I'm a bit stumped. Didn't intend on bringing home another birdy but when i was picking up treats I just wanted to take a look at the bin-o-budgies and I loved the coloring on this baby. SO, I picked her up and held her for a second and then I decided that I'm going to try and attempt to scratch her head and neck just because... Ugh, shouldn't have done that. She made the cutest face and stretched her neck out for me to scratch more. NONE of my budgies will let me do that... I had to take her home. (sorry I'm using her and she more...got tired of typing "he/she".
I say boy, because it doesn't look white to me. Looks more pinkish, and that dark purple is a boy trait. The difference from the dark to the light color sometimes makes me think it's white, but usually it's pink with that dark of a cere.
Thank you! I only worry about having more than one girl to a cage. If I have a Freja shes going to get her own new cage once shes done with quarantine. Dont want to stir any fights. Unless anyone else on here has experience with having two females to a cage?
