Question Strange Behaviour Towards My Hands/Feet?

Hello, All!

A few weeks ago, Pina started playing with my toes, which isn't worrying, right? Well, he'd tweet, bob his head, shriek, you name it. He moved onto m hand, and he playfully jumps onto my thumb as he does it. But now i have to add regurgitation to the list. So:
  • Excessive Tweeting For A Quiet Bird
  • Bobbing His Head Way More Than Usual
  • Shrieking
  • Regurgitation of usually 1/2/3 black seeds

So then i got the idea, was he trying to mate with me? NO NO NO.

Maybe he thought it was another bird? I mean he let me PREEN him the other day, HE'S NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE HAHA- But he wont let me do it now so i guess it was a one time thing.

Point is, what in the wide world is my Pini doing?

Thank you <3

Pina And Luna

It does sound an awful lot like hormone related behavior, he is old enough now to be sexually mature. Is his cere a very dark blue now ? There are step's you can take if it is becoming problematic.

The behaviour your Pina is showing is normal for a budgie who is closely bonded to its owner. Pina is just being playful and showing affection towards you.

There may be a time that he might try to mate and that's when you'd need to set healthy boundaries so that Pina doesn't go through with it. You can always distract him with a toy or divert his attention to another type of activity.

I really hope not. His cere is light blue in the middle and darkish blue around it. He's not actually a year old, i found out, maybe 8 months old.

But Piņa isn't bonded with me, if I plain show him my hand he runs away in fear, but he climbs on and plays.... I really hope he is just playing and not...mating.

All his toys have now been chewed on and am unable to go to the shops right about now. Any other healthy boundaries?

Dear All,
After I found most of the answers i had recieved were talking about how Pina's behaviour seemed to be like... uh... mating season is near, i decided to do some research on my own. If you did have the same problem as I, then here is how I finally fixed it.
  • Cover 3 sides of his cage at 6:00pm. = Mating season is usual in Spring Or Summer, where days are longer than nights. If you make your bird stay up, it usually is due to that.
  • Everytime he does try to do this, say in a low voice "No." But make sure you say it gently as not to frighten him. Remove him from there as you say that. = he will quickly learn that "No." means that he shouldn't do this.

I know it's simple, but these two things usually discourage your bird's wish to mate with you. It worked for me anyway.

    Luna and Pina
P.S. Thanks for all your help, he has returned to his normal ways!
    P.S.S HOORAY!

Luna. Indigo is doing this to me to.. I thought he was playing with my toes at first then he went to my hands and the same thing. It is breeding season right now and Indi thinks I am his mate.. Well you can guess what Indi does to my hands and toes.... He will stop as soon as breeding stops....

Oh, yes, Penry does this too sometimes . Discourage it the best you can as you posted above and soon he will calm down and this will pass...
