Default The millet lord has arrived

Update on my previous sexing post, I took the one hour drive and went to see the budgies. She had the two budgies and showed the parents and the other baby she was keeping. The parents were an Albino and a cobalt (that her grandkids didn't want anymore), and she wasn't expecting the greens, but she kept what looked like a violet (she didn't have it out). The opaline was definitely a hen and was told she was nippy both coming out of the cage and to other birds. I ended up only taking the (possible) male.

I've had them for three days so far, so time will tell how loud they are but he is making a good impression. On the downside he was fed only seed, but they had been introduced to vegetables (loves peas, carrots and corn) and was had raised (not fed). But I have my hopes up because they are very young (he grew to love millet in just a few days). I bought a highest quality seed mix I could find but they'll only eat the pellets out of my hand and not if there is seed they could have instead.

(He is scared/always puffed up at the camera)

(above was right after I put him in the cage for the first time.)

Congratulations on your gorgeous new budgie boy, he's adorable!
Just one budgie won't make that much noise, so I don't think you need to worry about that.
Best of luck with your new little friend!

Any insight on his color? I've never seen blue on the chest like that. Another thing I forgot to mention is he is only "half clipped". The lady said they were clipped but after he flew across the room I realize he only had about half of his primary feathers cut .

He's single factor violet Another one of our members, RavensGryf, has a hen the exact same color. He's gorgeous!
Congratulations on your new addition, looks like he's settling in quite well already.
What's his name?

Milo! All the other names I was thinking of didn't fit him, so I though of grains.

Dexter,

Milo is a very precious little boy and I love his coloring.

It sounds as through the person gave Milo what is called a "safety clip" which means triming only the first few flight feathers. This allows the budgie to still fly but not gain as much height.

Congratulations on your darling boy, I look forward to seeing lots more pictures of him in the days to come.

He's a calmed down quiet a bit, these pictures were all taken on the first day and I let him get settled in for two more days, so he's better (now he just tries to eat the camera, no fluffing up)

Hi, Milo is such a cutie, and my Mink says "hey, that boy's just like me, only his eyes show more!" . Mink is an English, and as StarlingWings said, she is exactly the same color as Milo . Mink has a lighter back though. Not cinnamon, but just seems lighter than normal. She's going through her first molt right now, and will be interesting to see if the color changes any.. whether the violet is single factor or double factor.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you that Mink was excited to see an extremely cute boy who looked a lot like her .
