Default the hot weather...

it's hot and humid in the UK at the moment, i tried a water-bath but the boys just glared at it and didn't even try, so they're are getting extra water-bottle sprays, i'm using the logic that if i'm hot and thirsty then they probably are...

Here in Germany it's hot and humid too. My Kalle feels okay so far. I wonder how to keep him cool since he isn't used to his bathtub and water spray bottles yet. The room temperature is about +28 degrees celsius right now.

Edit: Right now I tried to spray him for the first time with a very small bottle since he is afraid of big things. I used an empty bottle of nose spray and he enjoyed it as long as the spray mist is very fine.

you could try experimenting with the setting by turning the nozzle of the spray-bottle, it took a while for me to find the setting which the boys were happy with...

My two seem to be coping ok and it hit 35 degrees in my town in the south on Wednesday! My flat was 29 degrees! I'm offering both daily bath and sprays and they just aren't interested. I'm figuring if they were suffering they would make a point of sourcing this out themselves ?as budgies are pretty clever little birds. This is of course is a guess, could someone confirm whether that's what they do or not?

When a budgie (or other kind of pet bird) is overheating there are two noticeable signs: they put their wings further away from their bodies (making an arch with the wings) and they repeatedly open and close their beak as if they are panting. This means they are hot and thirsty.
It's a good idea to mist our birdies on very hot days or give them access to a birdie bath (for those who like to bathe).
I also like to offer my birds big leafy greens freshly washed, they love to bathe and drink from the droplets and of course eating the veggies and this also helps them to be hydrated.

Keeping your budgies cool in the hot weather by misting them (if they enjoy it) is great.

I'd still offer a bath as well.
Sometimes it takes awhile before they become brave enough to try the bath but when they do they find out they love it!
You can float some basil leaves in the water to help entice them. Also, some budgies love to rub themselves on wet greens (like kale or romaine lettuce) to bathe.

Oops -- looks like aluz and I were posting at the same time (again!)

We are so hot and dry on the southern Pacific coast of Canada that our fire hazard alert is labelled Extreme. Fortunately we don't get the humidity of other areas. My birds love their baths and nearby fans that I don't blow directly on them but close enough so they enjoy a warm "breeze". I keep a fan going near them at night but cover their cage 3/4 of the way. They are doing great. Their owner on the other hand would love the temperatures to drop 10 or 20! . Highs here are hitting mid 90's F /30's C.
