I have had him now for less then 48 hours and he seems to be settling in pretty well, right now he is exploring his cage, sitting on the swing and chirping once in a while, such a sweet sound
However he is only eating his millet and not touching his seeds or anything else.
As I am changing his cage tomorrow for a much bigger one I am wondering, remove the millet and see if he will eat his seeds? Keep the millet and remove it tomorrow when I transfer him to the new cage? Or keep the millet in his new cage as well so he eats as he knows what it is and likes it as I am sure going to a new cage will frighten him a bit. Help? lol
I agree with Amber. Do you know what he was being fed where you got him ?
I don't I forgot to ask, I did look at it and it looked like some generic seed, I have bought him Zoomax Fruitomax seeds that have fruits and veggies in it also Forti Patee Condition Food, I have not tried the last one yet ie: putting about a teaspoon over the seeds as he is not eating the seeds lol
His poop looks perfectly normal, no running and his vent is clean, well as clean as a vent can be
Have you thought about sprinkling some of the millet seeds on top of his other seeds to see if that will encourage him to try them?
You my dear lady are a genius, nope I didn't, I will on Tuesday, as he will get his new big home tomorrow I will let him eat what he knows.
However Tuesday I shall take out the millet but put some in his seed bowl.
Thank you so much for that idea I will also hang a small amount by his cuttlebone so he can figure out what that is as well. He is going to have so many new toys and mineral blocks and such in his new cage
I also think I will put a bit of millet right on top of a ladder I have for him, let the little guy work out a bit, I want him happy and healthy for many years to come
