Default budgie sitting on eggs

my female budgie had layed 5 eggs.....she s sitting on them ...but when i take a look in the nest box....sometimes i find one or two eggs aside ...means she sits on 3 or 4 and one or two eggs are just outside her sitting area...not always but often.............is it a normal behavior ??

Is this your female's first clutch, does the nest box have a concave round circle in it? Hens can sometimes tell if eggs are not fertile and will kick them out. Have you candled them at all to see if they are fertile? I suggest you read through the breeding section here on the forum for some great tips to help out. Also having a first aid kit ready for possible hand rearing or sick budgies. Does the cock feed the hen and help out in the nest or is he staying out of the nest?

I would ask the same questions Cathy did as that information is important. I also agree that sometimes the hen will discard certain eggs for various reasons.

It sounds like you need to either make the choice of letting them be and see what happens, or candling the eggs and go from there. Good luck I hope you have healthy strong chicks soon.
