Default A Moody Baby? :)

Hi everyone!

My little budgie Limon used to climb on my finger whenever I touched her chest. However, nowadays, she sometimes does not even care! I touch her on the chest and move my finger up and down a bit, but she just stands still and looks around. I assume that this means simply "not now, leave me alone" but do you guys have any other explanations?

Plus, she sometimes tries to bite my finger when I get closer and does not like to be put in the cage. She gets angry and screeches.

Thank you in advance!

Sound's like you are right, she does not want to come out. How has your bond with her been...have you been spending regular time with her, they sometimes can go a little hesitant and fearful if we haven't been able to spend as much time with them as they are used to...

@Jonah: Actually, we have been playing with her a lot and we let her do whatever she wants to do. She does not want to get in the cage? Fine, she stays out as long as she wants. The thing is she rejects us from time to time. I mean, in a day, sometimes she hops on our finger readily and has no problem with that; however, sometimes she just says no. And I really could not map out a pattern for this beahavior.

I have found that when I have a new budgie they are a lot more friendly and they let me touch and play with them. I have figured through the years that they are afraid, or if not afraid, kind of in a shock with the new surroundings. During this time they seem to be a little more friendly because everything is new to them. After they get settled in and a little more comfortable with their new surroundings they seem to get a little more timid with me. I continue to be patient and get them to trust in me, and after a while they return back to being really friendly.

Keep doing what you are doing and soon you will also be rewarded

How old is Limon now?
It sounds as though she may be either nearing a molt or is coming into "puberty". Most budgies, both male and female, become much more independent and sometimes nippy during this stage.
As Randy and Rick have said, over time her behavior will become more trusting again and your bond will be stronger.

Time and patience is the key!
