Hello all! I was recommended here by /r/budgies on reddit, where I was asking for help sexing my new bird The guesses were pretty polarized, so I'll post the pictures here too (and some new front facing ones in natural light as suggested).
I work at a pet store, and for whatever reason we haven't had an animal shipment in weeks. Because of this we're changing vendors, and won't receiving any additional animals for another few weeks. Our parakeet flock has dwindled down until there was only one, this one. I know getting a bird from a reputable breeder is more ethical and can lead to a healthier bird, but I had to get this one out. It was alone in the large exhibit for at least a week, and sat in one spot all day shivering and plucking it's feathers. I moved it to a smaller cage and while it seemed to be doing better, it was still sitting in the same spot all day.
With my discount I got the biggest cage currently available at the store, 18x18x36, toys, a mirror, perches, a swing, cuttlebone, a ladder, and a pellet blend similar to what we fed them at the store so I can do a slow transition into something more nutritious.
It as been a very quiet bird, until today. All day yesterday it was again sitting in one spot in its cage (the highest perch in the corner) and only occasionally singing. We played a video of budgies chirping and it perked up right away and sang a little. Today, it has started flying around and exploring its cage, swinging on the swing, using the cuttlebone, and singing for hours! I'm very happy how its cheered up since being in our store. Per instructions we have not tried to handle it at all, we've only gone up to the cage to talk, as we want it to feel safe and comfortable in its new space. Now I just need a name
Thank you for your help, I've already learned a lot more by reading the stickied posts too!

Thank you Sylkaen! I see you're a budgie newbie too! How are you liking them?
Tulip, after seeing your impressive lineup I have no doubt you'd be a master at this. A little boy it is! He actually just flew over to his food bowl and started eating for the first time, I'm so happy!!
