Got new Prevue F040 cage today. It took me, my daughter and my granddaughter about 40 minutes to put it together. I can't believe some of you put it together by yourself.
I love this new cage!. I especially like the fact that the bottom grate comes out for easy clean-up.
My granddaughter and I spent the day setting up some toys and perch swings. I am expecting a shipment of more toys and perches in the mail tomorrow. After we get it all set up, I plan to move Dorian into his new "mansion". He is in the tiny green cage on top of the F040 in the picture below.
Well, after thiking about it long and hard, I decided to move Rio into the new cage first. Dorian is still in quarantine, and I don't want to isolate him from his human friends. So it is easier to move him into other rooms with us if I keep him in the small cage.
So, once I had decided to move Rio, the real problem-solving began - how to get him to move to the new cage without too much trauma. So, I took everything out of his cage except for one long dowel perch. Then, I put his cage down close to the bottom door where the food bowl is located. Then, I put the long dowel perch from the old cage to the new cage and waited...and waited...and waited. Finally, after an hour, Rio noticed the food and went into his new cage.
He seems a little confused, but he is flying and climbing around exploring the new perches and toys. I just hope it goes as smoothly when it is time to move Dorian.
