Default Not a big girl after all?

A couple of weeks ago I was convinced Princess Jakob was about to go into condition for the first time. Her cere was changing colour. I even posted a picture here and others confirmed.

Anyway, it never developed any further seems back to normal. Is that normal? Is that just because she's still young and it was the first time?

As you can see from the pictures, her cere is pretty much just light blue again... and she's FULL of pin feathers!

Yes, it's normal and there's no reason for worries! Depending on the females, some can take longer to transition to breeding condition, it all depends on how their body functions. The moult may have also delayed the process.

She is one very pretty budgie I don't really know much about her cere condition perhaps her hormones are adjusting

That's good to know. I have noticed she's finally started showing interest in her cuddle bone, and she's eating more of her egg food too. Her favourite "toy" right now is parsley, so she might in fact end up with a green cere

Basil seems to be of no interest here. I'm not actually sure how much of the parsley Jakob even eats, but she can play with it for hours on end and even hides it under her toys (as if she's worried she won't get more!)

Those pictures are GREAT!! I love them.

It's so funny that Princess Jakob loves playing with (and hiding) her parsley.
[Personally, I hide cookies in my room because you never know when you might get hungry during the night!
and, I have done so since I was a small child! ]

She is such a pretty girl. How old is she ? I am going to say both of my hen's were around ten month's old when they came into condition the first time...

The same thing happened to my hen, Skye, her cere started changing to a tanner color but then suddenly changed back to whitish blue before she really came into condition. I think that she's about ten months old as well. She seems perfectly fine now, though I'm still confused that she never came into condition.

And you have a beautiful budgie, the pictures are adorable!
