Default Budgie been eating now for 5 hours

I'm worried my bbudgie started eating hours ago....very restless and this morning was wing twitching (hasn't flown since a bad molt a few years ago... )... I have no idea what is going on.... any advice would be gratefully received.

Has he been eating non-stop?
It would be concerning if you budgie has been at the food bowl constantly.

If you see him going down every few minutes, there's no need to worry as budgies like to grab a mouthful, eat it, climb around, and eat some more. That's normal and no need to worry

Hi, thanks..... it has been non-stop eating. Ive had to remove his seed just leaving water and parsley in the cage. Didnt like to do that. Normally he snacks about 5 or 6 times a day... but he was getting in his seed with both feet and not moving just constant eating. Totally out of character. Also has a liking for the iodine block.

He's settled now on his swing.

How have his droppings been looking and has he had the normal amount. Do you weigh him ? A recent development with my flock has necessitated the need for me to buy a scale and start weighing regularly, which in all reality I should have been doing all along. If his dropping's are off and he is eating more than normal, you should consider an avian vet visit...

Thanks for responding.... there's one dropping that looks watery.. I think he needs a trip to the vet... the nearest avarian vet is a good hours drive and that would totally stress him out...

From the info you have given, I think you are being prudent with that decision. He very possibly has something going on, it may be as simple as a deficiency. Does he eat more than just seed ?

Hello how is your budgie doing now? Is he adjusting his crop a lot and showing any other signs of sickness? Is he drinking more than usual as well or just eating?
if he were my budgie I would be taking him to the avian vet, my trip takes me three hours of driving.
Please let us know how he goes soon.

This is definitely not normal behavior and is indicative of an illness or deficiency that needs to be addressed by your Avian Vet.

Please be sure to update us on your budgie's condition after the appointment.

Wishing your little fellow all the best!
