Default Budgie Weights

My 4 yr old girl Harriet is a big girl who weighs in at 55g; yet she is not overweight. Does anyone else have a "large" budgie?

How much does your budgie weigh?

Budgies weights will vary and what may be overweight for one will not be for another due to the body type.

In general the smaller standard budgie average 25 to 39+-
and the English are usually 40 to 60gms.

When in doubt, check the keel bone in relation to the breast muscle.

I have an English Hen who weighs 54 grams right now. As Deborah said, if your bird is English, that is a normal weight...

I've felt her keel bone, just as I do with my cockatiels, and she feels like she's at a good weight; she also checked out fine at the vet. He was surprised by the scales but said she's at a fine weight.

She's an American Budgie.
