Birds misunderstood!:-(

Just watching a docu TV programme (here in England) about people who are obsessive compulsive cleaners! (Yea, I know, I really should get out more!:p!) and there's a woman on here who is dedicated to her cleaning for MANY hours EACH day (!) and has just said the most disgusting, awful, filthy things on all of Earth are...all birds!! I realize people can't help having their fears and obsessions, but, it kind of upsets me hearing that. She's gone crazy seeing a bit of bird poo but is OK cleaning her toilet a hundred times each day etc.... Oh, well, as they say (about dogs but I've changed it here!): 'The more people I meet, the more I love my birds.' !!:-)) :p;):budgie:

Yup, they are just happy-go-lucky little creatures that do not bother a soul! :)

The funny thing is birds are some of the cleanest pets, especially budgies. You don't have to worry about them trailing mud into the house or similar things.

I do love cats and dogs as well, but I think it's interesting that birds were her greatest cleaning fear :giggle:

LOL, that poor woman... I have OCD although not so much compulsive cleaning, but in other forms.
However, I have to agree - birds are some of the cleanest pets. My puppy is a lot messier lol.
In addition, I work at a grocery store, and I find that people can be pretty messy too, lol.
And Just a thought - OCD is all about trying to control one's fears. I wonder if she doesn't like birds because their messiness cannot be controlled (wild birds fly everywhere).

Yes, I think there was an element of that, for sure, and she spoke about them with such disgust and huge disdain! :S:budgie:

Birds

In the mind of our Creator, bird droppings fertilize the wild places of our earth and prepare the seeds to sprout from the earth to renew and sustain our green planet. What a wonderful lesson in learning to love ourselves, even those uncomfortable places we dislike. Blessings, Jo Ann:budge:

Does she actually have OCD? She might know perfectly well that her fear isn't rational but that still might not make any difference to how she feels.

I hate certain insects, most of all cockroaches. They freak the hell out of me. Even the thought of a cockroach makes me shiver in disgust. I know that I'm being completely irrational and that a cockroach can't really harm me in any way but that still doesn't change how I feel. It does change though how I treat them. I try not to kill insects (at least on purpose). It's not their fault that they are ugly disgusting little zombies who I wish didn't exist....

Anyway, as long as she doesn't hurt any birds, don't let it bother you too much. People have got all kinds of crazy fears and obsessions (me included...).

Indeed, that's true. I too am less than a fan of insects!! Watched programme over a week ago and I'm not overly troubled by it or anything, and I guess I'm just biased as I'm pro birdie! And like you, rather anti insect!!:-):p:eek:

Well... I admit when I first got my Cody, I was a little bit inclined to be put off by all the feather dust and poop on the wall, etc. Now, I have 5 budgies and a hepa filter thingy.. and I have learned to clean daily, etc. It doesn't bother me a bit now! But I do understand people being a bit worried about birds. They aren't exposed as much to them as cats and dogs. I'm not defending the woman on the TV (she obviously has her own issues), but am admitting to being a little judgmental about birds in the beginning myself. (Remember, I didn't own birds until after I turned 60... ;) )

Don't let it upset you. The poor woman doesn't know what she's missing.
