Default Its snowy again - Is my bird stressed? Extremely Worried.

Hey guys. Uhm.. i thought snowy was doing well. She isn't. She did eat a bit and played a bit but slept today for most of her day. She would normally fly away after few seconds of having her perch on my hand. Today she sat, although she did look back and forth trying to move out of her way... She seemed very uninterested in almost everything today. I also put some milley and she ignored it. I did notice her eat her seeds so i know she's eating. considering the fact that she is my most active budgie, she should be doing a lot more normally which is why i'm concerned.. I do not know if she is stressed because of all the commotion that happened yesterday. I also realised the she keeps lifting her toes. Its not like the kind of toe lifting they do to relax it. Its not tucked in her feathers and she allowed them out awkwardly out? She did tuck them in a few times but i'm still very worried.. The vet did trim her toes reasonably short but nothing too short to hurt the quick of her nail but they were shortened by almost half way... could her new feet be causing her stress out? She didn't make a sound either. No chirping whatsoever. I might actually end up calling them in a day or two tomorrow if it continues like this. I think she's a bit too overwhelmed. Snowy does have a case of being very stressed. when i first got her she didn't eat two days. She started chirping after day three. I'm leaving her alone and today they will be getting minimal outside time so she can focus calming and destressing herself in her cage and have food for all times. Hopefully she gets better and her energy is boosted. Anything i should do? Im seriously very worried. The vet did say everything is fine, her muscle tone, her weight whatsoever when i was there yesterday. She went to the vet yesterday because of a beak problem but she had NOTHING to do with looking "sick" or "stressed" and now she's displaying completely different behaviours. Im worried. Extremely worried.

Poor Snowy I'm sorry to hear she's stressing out! I would just keep her quiet, warm, and maybe put some electrolyte in her water to keep her energy up.
I think the stress of the vet visit wore her out. If she's not back to normal in a day or two, I would let the vet know what's happening.

I hope she feels better soon!

Her feet feel differently to her because her toenails are a different length. I imagine she's simply testing the "feel" by lifting her foot -- it's like when we get our hair cut and it just feels strange to us for awhile.

With regard to the sleepiness and being quiet, I think she's just resting and recuperating from all the activity yesterday and it will take a day or so for her to get back to normal. Give her some space and let her do her thing. Sometimes we all need a little "quiet time".

As long as she's eating, drinking and pooping normally, I'd just watch her for a couple of days. If things don't change by Monday then I'd give the vet a call.

Let us know how things progress.

i'm very worried but i realised she did eat a bit even though her activity is not doing well. I also realised that her cage mate Kiwi was picking on her as she was trying to nap and stuff. I think she's very lonely to be honest. Today i realised that a bit more... I am really considering getting her a mate (male), but their cage isn't the biggests so i will have to first get a new cage in order to buy a new bird. I do have a cage in mind that's a flight cage. I will probably only be able to get it as my birthday on jan 1 but after that i'm planning to rescue from toronto humane society or adopt from kijiji (similar to craigslist)

I agree with Deb, I know if I get a new haircut I still brush where I used to have hair LOL. I think her nails being longer is making her feel not as safe or secure. As she is a budgie that stress this will affect her physically. Try to not stress yourself s she will pick up on your feelings as well.
