Default Budgie not chirping

I got a budgie a few days ago and he didn't talk or chirp at all on the first day which was to be expected but I was playing some budgie chirping and trilling videos off youtube and he started chirping back a little! Today he was chirping a little bit in different tones which went with the sounds the birds in the video were making but he was also just opening and closing his mouth at times without any sound coming out at all at least from what I could hear. Is this normal behavior and if it is what does it mean? Or is this something I should be concerned about and should I take him to a vet?

Hi and to Talk Budgies!

Your budgie is reacting very normally. It generally takes around 2 weeks or so for a budgie to acclimate to his new environment.

To give your budgie time to settle in, it is best if you do not handle or touch him for about 2 weeks.

To build your budgie’s trust, sit by his cage and read, talk or sing quietly to him for a period of at least 10-15 minutes, 3 or 4 times day. After the 2nd or 3rd day, rest your hand on the outside of the cage when you talk to him so he'll learn that your hand is safe and will not hurt him.

After a week, rest your hand inside the cage when you talk.
Don’t make sudden moves, don’t try to touch him.
Let his get used to the idea that the hand is now in his safe place and not harming him.
After 2 weeks, begin moving your hand slowly toward your budgie and begin your taming and bonding sessions.

To familiarize yourself with the forums, please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.
You'll find most of your basic questions are answered after you've read through all of them.

I'm looking forward to hearing all about your budgie and hopefully seeing some pictures soon!!
