I have a large cage, which hosts 2 males and 2 females (yes I am certain by their cere colorations); all are 2-years+ old.
The two males now seem to be fighting over one of the females; I have witnessed them in a full-out brawl on the cage floor. Neither seems to pay much attention to the other female.
One of the males is clearly the alpha, and aggressor (and no coincidence, is the largest of the four).
I have another, smaller cage, so I could consider separating the four, but would like to hear from experienced budgie owners the best way to deal with this situation.
Yes, I made the decision to remove the aggressive male to the smaller cage, with his favored female. Is that the best move, and should it be a permanent change?
Hi there and although I see you've been here for a while, an official welcome to Talk Budgies!
I agree completely with Deborah's advice and with what you've done
I hope the new arrangement works out and I also hope to see pictures of your budgies soon! Feel free to ask about anything else you're concerned about as we'd love to help.
Hope to see you around the forums!
