Default Just got back from a pet store. There was a cute love bird there..

She was blue, SO adorable. 12 weeks old. I could hold her in my hand on her back and she wouldn't move an inch. I personally find when birds lay on their back extremely adorable and secretly wished my own budgie would allow herself to lay on her back as well.
I petted this love bird on her back in my hand for close to half an hour and she adored it. Like a little baby

I would have bought were it not for the risk of two birds making too much noise which I can't handle personally.

This lovebird was something else though. I could pick up him up with one hand, place him belly up in my other hand and he would remain like that without moving. I stretched my hand out as flat as possible and he would still be laying there belly up, totally not moving. Unbelievable it was.

Is there a sure-fire way of training my budgie so he would do this too?

Budgies are not into being held or petted, they will aow you to touch them when they are younger but as they mature it is a very sick or exceptional budgie that will tolerate that level of touch. Even hand raised budgies don't like to be held in an enclosed hand.
budgies like to sit and preen you or sit and sleep my baby will snuggle and cuddle and allow me to touch him almost everywhere but he will only be held entirely when he is not well. they like to choose their level of comfort.
