I have only bought naturalk wood so far, but a friend got me some bird hangups for my birthday (the 20th) and the birds already grew to like it.
Today however I noticed redish/brownish poop. I don't know from which bird it is though, or if from both. I rubbed on the wood and the color came off a bit. I have seen them nibble on the wood too.
I assume the poop is coloring? But I still worry if the colored wood is ok for them or not. I mean, it IS a bird toy, so I HOPE they wouldn't produce anything dangerous. But some assourance would be appreciated!

The colored poop is from the dye on the wood in the toys as you suspected.
Generally, the coloring of wood for budgie toys is achieved through soaking the wood in non-toxic food coloring.
When you clean the toy, be sure you take it down and put it over a sink or basin as the coloring will come off quite quickly when you use water and or white vinegar on it.
I ended up with very stained hands when cleaning birds toys due to the food coloring washing off and now use gloves when cleaning them.
Some of the toys my budgies have are older now and the color is almost completely gone from the repeated washings.
