Alistair, since about yesterday has decided that biting me is a fine idea.
He won't do it unless he's on my finger, which he steps up onto quite willingly.
Today was by far the worst. I've been able to not react to his biting and just let him get back down in his own time, but my knuckles suffered something horrible.
I have absolutely NO idea what brought this mood swing on.
There could be a few reasons to explain the sudden biting. Alistair may be testing the boundaries to see how far he can get away with things.
He could be more moody due to an upcoming moult, or maybe he just wants to have some alone time.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
I agree with Aluz also he could be entering his teenage years as we say ! He is starting to be comfortable and hormones are racing around his body.
Every now and then Budget will have a play fight with my finger or thumb sort of like young bears or lions when they are growing up.
This would be a good time to start clicker training if you have not already. You can use a chopstick or something similar and encourage positive reinforcement. That way he looks forward to a reward and is so busy chasing the stick he won't want to bite. But remember to keep the sessions really short - about 2 -3 minutes each then break for 5 mins or so.
I honestly think he's just trying it on, now. Today he's walked up onto my hand of his own free will and tried biting again, but he very quickly gave in as I was just entirely ignoring him.
my bets are that he was testing me, or going through his teenage years. (he's about five and a half months old now, i think?)
and... ooh, from what i know of clicker training, it sounds pretty fun
Thanks for the help, guys!
