You are correct! Two beautiful little girls there You would expect a male recessive pied to have a pink/purple colored cere.

Thank you for your responses!!! I thought they are girls but wanted to makes sure with all of you!!

Can you tell me what mutations they are?

I currently have 3 boys and 1 gir and wanting to balance out the flock a bit.......my concern is that I know female can be bossy.....if I add 1 or 2 more girls is there any hope that they can live happily together with propped introductions and time before the new ones move into the flight house with the other budgies? With the 4 that I have, what is a "safe" # to add and keep the balance in the flock? I know there is no guarantee that they will ever get along but I plan on making the transition slowly in the hopes of a better end result

Hi Melissa!
I do agree that you have two very cute budgie girls. The one on the first picture looks younger, she still is heavily barred, so hasn't started the first moult yet. I'd say she is 3 months old. She is a sky blue recessive pied.

The budgie girl on the second pic is older, I see the tan starting to creep in on the base of the cere, between the nostrils. I'd say she is close to reaching 6 months old but not quite there yet. From that pic, I think she is a grey yellow face type II recessive pied budgie.

If you have a big enough cage for all 3 pairs and the introductions go smoothly, you may not run into problems. However, you should pay close attention especially when your females go into breeding condition, this is when usually the trouble begins to surface and there can be some bad fightings.
In order to prevent fightings and general animosity between my birds, I prefer to house each pair into their own cage. By doing so, potentially stressful situations are avoided, there's no vicious fighting and the light bickerings are put to a minimum.

Best of luck with your new girls and their adaptation to your flock!

The first female is a sky blue, opaline recessive pied. She definitely appears to be younger than the second female

Dark Factors Blue Budgies - Cute Little Birdies Aviary
Opaline Budgies - Cute Little Birdies Aviary
Recessive Pied Budgies - Cute Little Birdies Aviary

The second hen appears to be a mauve, sf yellowface I, recessive pied. Both her body color and cheek patch color looks more like a mauve to me than grey... but if you could post an additional picture or two of her including her tail we can let you know for sure

Dark Factors Blue Budgies - Cute Little Birdies Aviary
Mauve Or Grey? - Cute Little Birdies Aviary
Recessive Pied Budgies - Cute Little Birdies Aviary

Many recessive pieds keep a bit more barring than is expected when compared to other mutations even after their first moult, and if I had to guess I would say she has went through at least one moult given her appearance. Again though, more pictures would definitely help as birds can vary greatly from one to another

Please do let us know if you decide to bring them home! They are definitely gorgeous regardless
