Default Two new budgies, worried about how they're acting

I have two new budgies, both babies, and i am extremely worried that there might be something wrong. One of them is fine physically, although, he seems to be bobbing his tail up and down very frequently while perched. I am worried that this might mean he has a respiratory issue, although it doesn't seem to be in sync with his breathing. I am willing to post a video, although i dont think i have that option here. Also, because his sibling is handicapped, it spends most of its time on the floor of the cage, and occasionally hangs on the sides. His healthier brother seems to like to go on the bottom of the cage with him and huddle up together in the corner when he's not perched up. They are both eating well, and everything seems to be fine. I'm just extremely worried that something might go wrong, as i had a budgie in the past that ended up passing away due to a health issue (RIP Charlie), and i will feel extremely sad if i cannot manage to keep these babies healthy. Any help is much appreciated, Thank you.

Welcome to talk budgies. Sound's like typical new budgie behavior, but a wellness checkup at an avian vet is alway's a good idea with new bird's, and even more so when they show any possible sign's of sickness. We would love to see pics and video of your new friends....

Hello and welcome to Talk Budgies!

As Randy mentioned, it is normal for new and younger budgies to want to huddle at the bottom or show some symptoms of being "sick". Within a few days, these actions should clear up as they settle in. However, it would be best to see a video of the tail bobbing to determine if it is normal. I have a feeling that it is, especially since it isn't in sync with his breathing, but it would be good to see.

I can't wait to see pictures of your little siblings and great job for taking in a handicapped budgie

If you have any further questions, please be sure to ask as we'd love to help!
Hope to see you around the forums and it's great to have you here

Hello what is your handicapped budgie's problem may I ask?
Young budgies are very needy for their siblings comfort so it is natural they want to be next to each other.
You can get some Apple Cider Vinegar with mother in it and add a couple of drops to the drinking water this is a natural probiotic.
e would love to see a picture or video of your babies have they got names yet?

The problem has to do with his legs (im not quite sure if it's both of them) but he cannot walk or perch on anything. Besides that, he's quite fine, and is able to get around pretty well. And you said apple cider vinegar with mother? I'll post pictures as soon as i can make some adjustments for the handicapped one. I'm thinking of naming one Willy, or Willie, and im not quite sure yet about the handicapped one. Any suggestions? But overall, thank you for your reply

He could have splayed legs perhaps, are his legs sitting out sideways or is his actual feet not formed properly? You will need to place food and water down low and cover the bottom of the cage with some form of paper . Kitchen paper or news paper is fine. Also place some ramps in the cage so he can walk up and around his cage. Apple Cider Vinegar has to have Mother in it to be of benefit. Looking forward to seeing some pictures soon.

Thank you very much, but I believe that one of the legs is sitting out in a wrong direction. I have already but some paper on the bottom along with food and water, im working on putting some ramps in the cage for him. I hope you dont mind me asking another question regarding the other budgie; but when he is perched he sometimes hunches, and im not sure if that might be a bad thing or not? Again, i thank you, didn't expect such quick responses, such a great community here at talk budgies

Hi and to Talk Budgies!

I'd like to get a little better idea of the situation about your handicapped budgie baby.

How old are the baby budgies and how long have you had them?
I'm asking because if the handicapped baby has splayed legs, it may not be too late to try to correct them (at least partially) depending on his age.

Here is a link about splayed legs:

With regard to your other budgie that sits somewhat hunched, some budgies are a bit "lazy" with their posture and simply like to sit that way. When you are able to post some pictures, we may be able to give you more advice with regard to that.

To familiarize yourself with the forums, please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.
You'll find most of your basic questions are answered after you've read through all of them.

I'm looking forward to hearing all about your budgies and hopefully seeing some pictures soon!!
