Default Why is my budgie not flying?

Hey guys. I have been having some issues with my little boy and i would love if you guys can give me a helping hand. Here is how it all started. Limon is my male budgie and when i got him, he had no sense of agility. He would crash into things and sadly it wasn't him only. All three of my birds didn't know how to fly. I was told by my vet that it was due to them being caged up almost all their lives. They were about a year old when i got them from the petshop.. Fortunately, my vet said we can take small steps to solve the problem. This is was the reason why they were clipped. I got them clipped ONLY once. So, as their feathers grew, they would get a better understanding of how and where to land and not crash. It was all good and all of them knew within few weeks where to land and how to get to their cages and what not. My two other girls (Snowy and Kiwi) learned hot to fly pretty high. They would have no troubles flying on top of my ceiling lamps. Unfortunately, its been months (7 - 8 months) and even though Limons feathers are all in, he still won't fly. He will fly short distances, but nothing too high. Short distances as in being on the floor and flying to his cage which is about a meter high. Trying to fly 40-50 cm to get on top of the sofa and stuff. Thats pretty much how high he can go. To be honest, at first i just thought he didn't really want to do so. But, i soon realised the Kiwi and Snowy would fly high and sit out my ceiling lamps but limon couldn't do it. He would try and try but would fail. Then Kiwi would fly down beside him and they would hang out from there. Kiwi would always have to come back down to the carpet because Limon can't get up. He can fly, but nothing high and nothing far distance. I thought it might be that his the biggest amongst all my birds, but his only 33 grams. He isn't a too fluffy to the point where it would not allow him to be mobile. He molted recently and all his fresh feathers are out. Still no results.. he hops to get on top of his cage and only walks only. Mainly on the carpet and on out sofa's... Its been close to a year since i got him and i'm starting to get worried. Also, this is his second molting. Will he ever learn how to fly? It kind of cute when he wobbles around but i would be really upsetting if he can't fly ever again..

Limon is a VERY handsome fellow! His colors are so vibrant and I just love him.

Limon may never be able to fly the same way your other budgies can and that's OK.

Limon is healthy and happy and can fly enough to get from the floor to his cage.
Some budgies have disabilities and are not able to fly at all yet they live long and happy lives.

Perhaps you could consider making climbing nets from hemp to give Limon the ability to get to areas where he can't currently fly.

Deborah is right, it seem's some bird's may never fly much if at all. We have had a few post's about this recently so your not alone. I like the idea's of creating climbing ropes, ladder's etc. for him, he is a beautiful little fellow, and you never know he may take to flying some time and surprise you...

He is a beautiful bird. As long as he is well and happy, that's what counts. Maybe in time with his short flights he will develop his flight muscles and be able to go further.
