Default Moving Budgies

Hello fellow budgie owners
I just recently purchased a new home. Has any had to move their budgies berfore and could you give me some great advice on how to make it as smooth as possible for my feathered freinds?

Thank you,
Rachel

I would move everything in the old house to the new one first, if at all possible. If not, go behind the moving truck so you can at least have some furniture and tables in the new house to make it more familiar. For transporting your little ones, make sure they are in a smallish travel cage with a water bottle and seed. You'll need a water bottle so that their bowl doesn't spill on the road. You can put something soft on the bottom of the cage if it's on the bigger side so in case they fall during a jolt they aren't injured. Also, a "comfort toy" like their favorite kabob, piņata, or something similar. Make sure it isn't heavy or too solid so it doesn't bang around while you're driving. I would take the bells out, too.

Finally, to secure the cage, either securely strap it to a seat or have someone ride with you and hold them steady. This minimizes the risk of them getting jostled around. You can place the cage or carrier in a shallow, padded box for extra support, and depending on whether or not your birds are okay with traveling in the car, you can cover their cage lightly on three sides so they feel safer. Play low talking sounds (news, audiobook, etc.) in the car or soft music.

I hope this helps and congratulations on the new home Hope everything goes well!
