Default Describe your budgie's scent!

They smell lovely, don't they? Maybe not so much when they have just taken a bath. Do all of your budgies smell the same, or do they have unique scents? I wonder what makes them smell that way and what chemicals are responsible for their scent...

I'm really glad that both of my budgies don't mind my nose being so close, so I need to take advantage of that and sniff them from time to time.

It's hard to pinpoint the scent. It makes me think of a warm meadow with sun dried hay. They smell very cuddly, warm, and inviting.

I can't find words in my vocabulary to accurately describe their scent.
It's a very pleasant, soft scent quite familiar to me and while budgies all have a general scent, I have been able to notice slight differences in scent on my budgie flock over the years.
Out of my current 8 budgies, my girl Dinda has the overall best scent, her half sister Peppy comes to a close second. I also like the scent of budgie chicks.

Out of all the species of birds I have had, budgies have the best scent by far!

Hmm, my Blueberry has a nicer scent than Lucky. Maybe female budgies are nicer smelling.

I guess it must be a grain sort of smell. Wet budgies still smell better than wet dogs!

I think because they are Grainivores they tend to smell like they do . I love it when Budget has just ate some fresh basil and thyme as he smells like a little herb garden LOL. I don't mind the wet budgie smell at all

I agree with you, it's very likely the budgie girls have the best overall scent!

I love the smell of my budgie! I would describe his smell as warm, slightly earthy and slightly musky. I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves to sniff on their budgie/s!

What does a lovebird smells like? Is the smell different from the smell of a budgie?

Mmm, freshly seasoned budgie... for sniffing, not eating!

Yes, I wonder what other birds smell like. I've had pet chickens before, and they do not smell good at all!

All my male budgies have the same musky scent but each of my 3 females smell uniquely different and my favorite is Betty's scent, who has a sweet smell like chocolate!

Gisele has a strong protein scent because she eats a lot of egg food and pellets, and Princess smells like a wet puppy because she always gives herself baths in the water bowl!
